A Note about My Work

Sat Feb 28, 2009, 7:15 PM
PLEASE READ BEFORE VIEWING MY WORK

All the images in this gallery are photographs.

Each of the photographs in this gallery is the result of a complex workflow. Like all the photographers in ur firm, I work in RAW and only in RAW. For every hour I am in the field, it is another four to six that are spent creating what we refer to as intermediate TIFs.

There are several reasons why many of these photos do not look like photographs.

1. We are able to emulate nearly 500 different films even though we are digital photographers.

2. Monochrome, sepia, antique plate, Holga and other camera formats are created from an intermediate color TIF.

3. Sometimes texture are added. These textures are also photographs. Generally textures are added before the photo is converted to monochrome or other period specific format. Sometimes color and monochrome versions of the same photo are combined. The result can be a dramatic combination of the two photographic styles.

4.A variety of tools are used to create the "special" effects. Generally, through creatively using layers and layer propertues in Photoshop and some other tools, the layer are combined and the finished photo created.

PLEASE READ BEFORE VIEWING MY WORK

This is a PHOTOGRAPHY gallery.

There are NO paintings, drawings, pen and ink, or other more trasitional or digital forms of art here. None of the work here is created with a pen, pencil, paint brush, or by their digital equivalents.

I am a photographer and only in so far as photography is an art am I an artist.

Each of the special effects you see are created by layering textures that are themselves photographs. The final product is created by controlling the layer properties in Photoshop. Thus, however much these PHOTOGRAPHS appear to be some form of digital art, THEY ARE NOT.

I do NOT appreciate arbitrary categorization of my work by casual viewers or by people who do not take the time to ask me how these images are created. If you feel the need to debate the category I select for a specific image, have the courage to raise the issue with me and NOT the management of Deviant Art

My pictures are more fluid illustrations's attempts of fugacious
phantasms that transitory illustrations's research of a reality which
would flee objectivity.
